They shouldn't differentiate them, specially when Year 1992 San Andreas is the place for GTA V, part of it anyway. I really don't like how they say the old games and the new ones are two different universes. Like in GTA IV, players can make friends and hang out with certain NPCs, including Michael's wife Amanda and son Jimmy, Franklin's "crazy friend" Lamar, and Trevor's mate Ron. Not only his cousin, you can do it with other certain male NPCs too.

Be skeptical of whether you'll like V or not. Rockstar always make it very apparent the direction their games are taking. Rockstar made it well known GTA IV took a more realistic direction and was smaller than San Andreas with less content. Please point to any time Rockstar gave any illusions about the direction of those two games. And besides, your opinion on those games have nothing to do with Rockstar not being believable. Actually it was the best tps game I've ever played to be honest. Far better than the first two MP games imo. Max Payne 3 was ridiculously good and surpassed all my expectations.

Rockstar have soiled two of my favorite series from them. After the disappointments that were GTAIV & Max Payne 3, I am not believe a word Rockstar has to say. However I think they may be over-exaggerating.
